Question: I have a son who is 6 years old. He has hives ( little bumps). All over his back and no where else on his body. What causes this? He says they itch. I'm worried if this is an internal issue or an irritation. Answers please. Included photos.

Brief Answer:
Looks like acute urticaria or simple skin allergy

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

I have just seen the images of the boy. By what you quote it should be an urticarial or a simple skin allergy. You can use Hydroxyzine at 1-2mg/kg/dose every 6th to 8th hourly for 7-10 days. Most important thing to be remembered is that it has a propensity to recur (called as second crop) within 10-14 days. If this happens, you can start using the same medicine but I suggest you get the kid evaluated with your paediatrician.

But if the above mentioned medicines are not over the counter medicines in your country, then you will need a doctor's prescription for it.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.

Thank you so much. I am still going to take him to the doctor to make sure it's nothing serious. He does have really bad seasonal allergies so that may explain it too. But thanks.
