Question: I have always had a tan on my hands below my half sleeve shirt and the neck. However, this summer the tan has become more dark and for some reason it is not reducing. The water supply is a bore well water supply. What can i do to reduce the tan.

Brief Answer:
Sunscreen and a topical retinoid

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern.

You must use a broad spectrum sunscreen on all exposed sites, throughout the day i.e on face, neck and arms (unless you are wearing full sleeve clothing). A sunscreen with spf 50 would be adequate. Reapply every 2-3 hours specially outdoors

In addition you may use a topical retinoid retino-A 0.025% cream (tretinoin 0.025%) once daily at night on all afffected skin on neck and arms and allow it to act overnight

Also take a tablet of vitamin C once daily (Celin chewable tablet).

Regards
