Question: my primary care doc has done labs to show that I am very anemic. I have been for at least a year or two. my iron is 26. my saturation is 7%. my IgA is <7. my IgM is 49. my IgC is 1600. Soluble Transferrin Receptor is 8.0. Ferritin is 8. B12 is 533. folate is 20. albumin is 4.1. globulins all normal. interp-PEP normal, no monoclonal. immunofixation interp-low immunoglobulin. i am being scheduled for iron infusions once a week for 3 weeks. i am pretty worried about all this and have read the side effects can be pretty bad. yoy can see in my medical history all the problems i have. is this the right thing for me to have? is infusion safer and better than transfusion?
