Suggest Remedies For Itching Sensation On The Scrotum

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016
Question: I have a severe itch in my scrotum since the last six weeks.I have so far on medical advice used Ebunet (?) cream, which didn't help, then cotrimizole cream for ten days but there is no relief .I am also taking fluxonazole for a fungal infection in a toe nail which has cleared up.I am loath to try any steroid. The part which itches doesn't appear inflamed but at times I also get a stinging sensation when I bathe and it feels there is a cut on part of the scrotum but it is not visible.

Brief Answer:
Use antifungal

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Scrotal itch is usually fungal to start with and then becomes chronic.
I treat such cases with a strong antifungal like capsule itraconazole 100 mg twice a day for 3 months along with local application of an antihistamine cream like ritch to be applied twice a day for the same duration.
You might need a prescription for the above medication.
Meet a doctor and get them prescribed.
This combination is Safe and highly effective.
If possible upload a photograph of the involved area.
This Will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Thank you Doctor, my last question, since I drive my own car and frequently in the hills, will itraconozole make me drowsy or in any way interfere with any activity requiring alertness.

Brief Answer:
Take fluconazole

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
Itraconazole can rarely cause dizziness in initial days.
As you are driving on hilly area it's better to avoid itraconazole.
You can take Tablet fluconazole instead.
Take tablet fluconazole 150 mg twice a week for 12 weeks.
This should help you.
Also apply clotrimazole powder to scrotal area in morning.
This will decrease friction while driving.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
