Suggest Remedies For Oysters Allergic Reaction
Question: hi
was wondering if its really necessary to carry an epipen around with me at all times. I had a severe reaction to oysters which I had never tried before. My face swelled and I was covered in hives....as long as I don't eat them and take precautions not to come in direct contact isn't that enough??
Im 37 year old healthy female other then having asthma. I've never had a reaction this bad to anything other then sulpha drug. I am taking blood thinners for 2 confirmed clots behind my right knee that were discovered November 2015
thanks.

Brief Answer:
Epipen

Thank you for contacting HCM with your XXXXXXX care concerns
I am sorry to hear that you have such a bad allergy to oysters. You probably don't need to carry the epipen all the time. You just need to remember when you go to a seafood restaurant that you carry a pen with you. The only reason to keep it with you at all times is that you may forget. Usually patients will keep their pen in the glove compartment in their car and another at home. Then replace them when they expire.
