default
Posted on Thu, 6 Oct 2016
Question: Have been diagnosed with degenerative arthritis of the spine. My pain is mainly in my left hip where I had two bone marrow extractions. The pin is so bad I cannot stand on my feet more than 15 mins at a time. What can I do to lessen the pain and what type of medication might help. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Muscle relaxants will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The main treatment of such problem is bed rest along with pain killers and muscle relaxants. Muscle relaxants can help with your symptoms if used in appropriate dosage in combination with a potent analgesic. You can get these prescribed from your orthopedician.
Local analgesic gels and hot fomentation may provide a short term relief. You can use analgesic gels like Volini gel. Exercise is not advisable in the times of acute pain.
Using an LS contour belt of appropriate size might be helpful in providing support to back muscles.
Physiotherapy also plays a major role in treating such conditions.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
L S contour belt is a belt that supports the lower spine well which can be used during the day time to support the back muscles.
A potent analgesic refers to a pain killer stronger than what you are using now. You will need prescriptions for it.
