Suggest Remedies For Phimosis In A Child

Question: My kid 4.5 Yrs and his foreskin is closely contracted around the penis head (glans). Only a small passage allows the urine to pass through. My pediatrician recommends minor surgery to free foreskin. Need your opinion on this plz.
Brief Answer:
No need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns. Do not worry. This is known as phimosis and is a common problem in kids. You may apply 0.05% Betamethasone ointment twice daily over the local part for a month along with gentle retraction of the prepuce after the fifth day of treatment. This usually improves 90% cases of phimosis. If it doesn't improve thereafter you may go for surgical procedure which your paediatrician suggested. These are simple and safe.
Hopefully it will be of help.
