Question: Hi,
My daughter is 2yrs 3months old. she was having cold and fever. I gave P-250(paracetamol) as directed and she is feeling better. But she is having severely cough and nose block now. Any suggestions?

Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
A severe cough and nose block suggests an upper respiratory tract infection. Symptomatic relief can be found with use of
a) Steam inhalation using warm water and menthol three times a day for 3 days
b) Topical saline nasal drops - 2 drops instilled into each nostril- Nasivion saline drops will help.
c) Antihistamines- Like cetrizine syrup 2.5 ml once a day.
d) Avoiding dust and allergies
e) Adequate rest; proper nutrition and plenty of fluids.
In case the symptoms persist or there is a productive cough with sputum then oral antibiotics are needed after a direct examination by her pediatrician.
