Question: Initially, I had contracted a sinus infection which migrated to my respiratory tract due to a post-nasal drip. For the past three days, I have been coughing up sputum from my lungs. The fluid is mostly clear, with slight yellow tinge. My coughing eposides can last one or more hours. Very difficult to sleep lying down if at all, I begin to choke. No noticeable fever or chills. What would be an effective medication to take to defeat the infection? Cipro? Amoxicillin? What would be best recommendation to treat and cure?

Brief Answer:
Hello. Either Septra DS or Cipro would be the best choice here

Detailed Answer:
Hello. For sinus infections, I prescribe either Septra DS or Cipro for a ten day course. I've have good success with eradicating the infection with either of those.

That's, of course, assuming you have a bacterial sinus infection but it would take your seeing a doctor to determine that
