Suggest Remedies For Small Painful Blisters On The Hood Of The Clitorous

I was diagnosed with HS1 approximately a month ago. I had a horrible outbreak the first time. I know have small blisters on the hood of my clitorous and on my labia. I started the Valtrex when I first noticed a sore. I am not in nearly as much pain, does this mean this outbreak wont be as bad? Also, I had sex with my boyfriend 5/6 days before I had sores. He now has sores on his penis. Is it possible I gave this to him even though I was completely non symptomatic?
Also, what can I do to prevent anymore outbreaks? I do not want to have to worry about continually having outbreaks? This is miserable and depressing.
Transmission of HSV infection is possible during symptom free period also.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Pain in HSV infection is individualized. Some will have severe pain and some may not. But that has no value in assessing the severity of the disease. Once again recurrences also, some may have frequent, some may have once in a year, in rare instance few may not have recurrences at all.
Viral shedding would be present during the symptom free period also for few days before and after the outbreak. So the possibility of transmission of infection to your boy friend can not be ruled out.
If the recurrences are frequent then there are ways to supress the activity of the virus by drugs (low dose antiviral drug or immuno-modulant measures) can be tried. You can consult a Dermato-venereologist or an infectious disease specialist. The will guide you for managing the frequency of recurrences.
