can combine topical with systemic medication
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Sore throat can be due to infection , allergies (with post nasal drip), trauma or severe reflux, very very rarely due to lesion in the throat.
With infection, it can be viral or bacterial, viral is much more common. A viral sore throat typically lasts 3 to 5 days or less in some cases.
Bacterial sore throats tend to very severe, associated with high fever. Some persons may have headache, nausea and vomiting. Antibiotics would be needed for treatment.
Infectious sore throat can be treated with topical medications and systemic.
You can try using both to help reduce your pain.
EG: (1) an oral anti inflammatory pain killer such as ibuprofen, naproxen or cataflam
(2)along with a topical agent such as covonia throat spray or chloroseptic spray/gargle- both of these have a pain killer and antiseptic
(3)disprin gargle (aspirin tablet dissolved in water) is also very effective as well
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
