Suggest Remedies For Swollen Lymph Node In The Neck

default
Posted on Tue, 26 Apr 2016
Question: I have had a swollen lymph node in my neck for months. I went to the doctor and he did not seem concerned, and frankly neither was I. He thought I had an infection and gave me an antibiotic. That has been several months ago and I still have the swollen lymph node. Occasionally, I get a sharp pain in my ear that lasts for a couple seconds up to a few minutes. No coughing, no soar throat, no fever, no loss of apetite. If you look, you can see it is swollen without touching. My wife is a little nervous...

Brief Answer:
Ultrasonography and FNAC/biopsy to confirm the diagnosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/44 - swollen LN in neck - for months - was given antibiotic several months ago - occasional sharp pain in ear of couple of seconds to a few min - no other symptoms - wife is concerned - can see as swollen - wife is concerned...

The simplest way to get a **confirmed diagnosis is to go for ultrasonography and FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology).
It is the best way so that the doubts are cleared and if something specific is found you can get the proper treatment started.

I am sure you will agree with me for this.
Please get this done. Rarely a biopsy may be required if the FNAC is not conclusive.

Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
