Suggest Remedy For IBS In An Elderly Person With Diabetes

Question: My 86 year old mother has diabetes, and developed IBS in the past two years. However, now it is constant diarrhea and explosive at times. Can u give us a list of foods she SHOULD/CAN eat?

*Give her regular diet but keep it bland. No spices in food.
*CItrucel dietary fiber supplement.
*Whole grains food.
*Plenty of water, fruits and vegetables and salads.
*Salmon fish.
*Small meals and frequent ones. Don't stuff her stomach at one time.
*Dried and canned beans.
*Peas
*oats
*barley
*brown rice
*take the flesh of the fruits alongwith it like of apples.
*carrots and green leafy vegetables and
*dried fruits.
*Water should be taken almost 9 glasses daily but before the meals not with the meals to avoid a rush to the restroom just after eating.




AVOID ALL THE FOODS THAT SHE KNOWS MAY BE IRRITANTS FOR HER:-
Spices.
Fried foods.
Junk food.
Processed meats.
Legumes.
Lactose in milk and fructose in honey, sorbitol in sugar free gums.
refined grains.
Beverages.
Caffeinated drinks like coffee, tea and energy drinks.
Chocolates.
Cigarettes.
Alcohol.
Broccoli.
ice cream
yogurt
cheese and other dairy product.
Very hot and very cold foods.

If I was her treating physician I would have started Imodium by mouth for her to get relief from the diarrhoea. She will get a good relief from the diet I suggested for her and described in detail in my previous answer.
