Hello and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Please forgive me for being a little more skeptical about the diagnosis, but being a doctor I only wish to rule out the worst.
It would be best to take him to a doctor or an ER (emergency room) as his pain seems to be causing him some discomfort. The green coloured phlegm is most certainly a sign of an infection and he will require antibiotic coverage.
In the meantime, also provide him warm clothing and sips of lukewarm water every now and then that will help expel the sputum being collected in his respiratory tract. Your doctor may also prescribe anti-mucolytics and expectorant syrups which will help ease his symptoms and irritation. While at the doctors, it would be a good idea to also get an EKG (ECG) just as routine.
I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.
Best wishes.
However, hot and cold chills now.
Should we go to Er or see if gets worse/better?
Would be best to take him to a doctor

Hello once again.
It would be better to take him to a doctor or an ER because this is an active infection and it would be in his best interest not to put him through any more. I hope you understand.
I hope you find my response helpful. Please do not hesitate to write to me anytime, I am always here to help.
