Question: Hi,

I put a few drops of melaleuca oil in my ear because the inner cartilage was itchy like from a bite possible or inner pimple. Now my ear is burning inside & part of my jaw hurts a bit. what can i do to take the pain away? Can I pour peroxide in my ear to take the oil out?

Brief Answer:
Peroxide should not be used

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Putting peroxide in ear may further irritate the tympanic membrane and worsen the condition. You should not leave it to empiric therapies and visit an ENT doctor urgently to examine the ear properly and if necessary irrigate the ear canal to remove/limit any further exposure of the oil. He may also prescribe antibiotics. In the meanwhile, You can take NSAIDs like Ibuprofen and anti histamines like levocetirizine and try to keep the affected ear facing down to facilitate draining any ear fluid, if present.

Never try to flush ear with water by yourself

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
