Suggest Remedy For Burning Sensation On Lips
Question: My upper lip has horribly been chapped since a few days. I can feel it burning when I eat food, whether it is spicy or not. I had a case of cold last week and I am recovering. Is it anyway related to that? I was earlier diagnosed with oral herpes and I am worried this may lead to the same again.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern.
I request you to kindly upload an Image so that I am able to have a visual impression of the skin condition.

Brief Answer:
Seems like a herpes labialis/ cold sore
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thank you. I have reviewed the Image.
This in fact looks like Herpes Labialis/ cold sore. I can make out fluid filled lesions in the center part of upper lip.
I would suggest an Oral antiviral e.g either tablet Acyclovir 400 mg thrice daily for 5 days Or valacyclovir 1 gm, 2 gms twice daily i.e 12 hours apart, for just 1 day.
Topically you may apply acyclovir 5% cream, twice daily.
Oral antivirals are prescription medications and therefore I suggest that you visit a doctor in your vicinity for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as for the needful.
Regards
