Suggest Remedy For Chlamydia And Epididymitis
Question: Hello doctor.
I tested positive for chlamydia and started taking doxycline. 2 days into treatment I got this strange feeling in left testicle and the day after it was really bad so I went to the emergency and they said it was epididymitis.
Since they knew it was due to chlamydia I was given a longer dose of doxycline for 4 weeks.
I took 36 x 100 mg of doxycline in a period of 4 weeks.
After treatment I wasn't fully recovered so I took azitromycin for 5 days in case of a mycoplasma genitalium infection.
The pain gradually disappeared and so did the soreness and a little bit of the swelling.
It has now gone 10 weeks. I still have a discomfort left and this tickling feeling is going down towards my left leg and my left buttocks.
I wonder:
1) Should healing take this long time even if the infection is gone? ( it was verified).
2) Why is this tingling feeling with discomfort in the testicle, my left leg and left buttock?
3) If I had mycoplasma G would it be cured by the dose of azitromycin?

Brief Answer:
Epididymitis could be due to causes other than STD.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your qyery.
1. Epididymitis itself is difficult to cure totally, You may need anti-inflammatory drugs along with these antibiotics.
2. Look for some other cause for Epididymitis (co-infection), or tingling sensation (Genital Herpes).
3. Mycoplasma G also would get cleared by the course of Azithromycin.

Yes but since i know which bacteria caused me epididymitis and since I started to treat that bacteria even 2 days before I got the epididymitis, why am I not well?
I see a lot of people getting well in a couple of weeks and they don't even know which bacteria caused their problem..
I have ruled out every possible cause for my epididymitis and since I do not have any pain, soreness etc left it must mean I have cured the initial cause of my epididymitis, which is chlamydia.
If I had herpes it would create this tingling on both sides and not only my left leg etc, right?
I think it is a nerve issue and I wonder how you do when your nerves are acting like this? Maybe are they irritated?
I saw that chronic epididymitis lasts for 3 months or longer. I have 2 weeks left until it becomes chronic then and I'm getting better but still. There is no inflammation left just a discomfort postinflammation..
I have already taken the big amount of antibiotic and it was a little bit to much says my doctors but we can rule out any remaining infection.
Wouldn't it get worse if I had a remaining infection? Because I haven't been on any antibiotics for almost 7 weeks..

Rule out other causes for epididymitis with investigations.

Thanks for posting your query.
Forget about STD causes for Epididymitis. Rule out urinary tract infection, Tuberculosis and filarisis through careful examination and investigations. Tingling of Herpes would not persist for months and unlikely to get referred up to leg.
Sometimes it might be due to the anxiety or fear for STD.
Consult an experienced surgeon for the scrotal pain and get relieved from your problem soon.

Yes I have ruled out every possible cause with urinary tract infections, STD:s etc
I don't have any problems with urinating or penis or something like that. Just this discomfort in left testicle. All the bacteria is gone!
I wonder:
I was checked by 2 doctors. I asked them about varicocele and they said it was not that. I then did an ultrasound which did not see anything related to that. Could they have missed it or is an ultrasound a sure diagnostic tool?
Could this tingling in left testicle, left thigh and leg be due to masturbation?

Brief Answer:
Masturbation is not the reason for your symptoms.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again.
You can not rule out the diseases only by symptoms alone. Urine examination for the presence of pus cells, culture test of urine for STD and non-STD organisms, smear for microfilaria, Mx test, TB PCR, Prostatic massage and culture and smear from prostatic fluid have to be investigated to arrive at the diagnosis. Without these examinations one can not rule out these possibilities. So I asked you to meet an experienced surgeon and get well.
Ultrasound examination is done and reported by experts and there will not be any omission in findings mostly. Masturbation is not the cause for your symptoms.

I have done most of the examinations, some more than once.
This infection was due to chlamydia and nothing else. The chlamydia is now gone.
Why am I so sure about it? Because the pain, soreness etc is gone. This indicates that the infection is gone. If it wasn't gone, I would have the same symptoms as I had day 1.
If it was like you said I would be expecting a worsening of symptoms since I have been off antibiotics for 7 weeks.
I do not have any problems palpating the testicle. It feels slightly different than the other but it doesn't hurt, isn't sore etc. In the beginning of this disease I would have much problems palpating the testicle.
Let's look at other possibilities that is not due to an infection.
You said prostate, I do not have any prostatitis according to doctors.
I have read about over-masturbation that could irritate the nerves.
I have masturbated 2 times a day and I think it's a little bit to much, what do you think? I mean, I just had epididymitis. Maybe an overmasturabtion isn't as helpfull in the healing process, making up other weird symptoms?
I wonder also if it is possible to develop a varicocele after an episode of epididymitis?
I really appreciate your help, but it seems like you won't leave the infection-part. I wonder what other possibilities besides a residual infection could give me these symptoms:
*Tingling in left leg/thigh (must be nerverelated)
*Slight discomfort of epididymitis (after an acute episode of epididymitis)
And what besides meeting a surgeon do you think I should do?
I will meet a doctor next week but in meantime, what do you think I should do to improve healing of testicle, increase bloodflow and calm the nerves that makes the tingling in leg?

Brief Answer:
Masturbation is healthy, not irritate nerves or epididymitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again.
If you don't have pain or discomfort on palpation of your testes forget about the same.
Masturbation is just a substitute for a vaginal sex. It will not cause any irritation to nerves or Epididymis. Masturbation twice a day is not much in your age. Varicocele has no relationship to Epididymitis and will not occur following an episode of Epididymitis.
A surgeon or Urologist are good choice to treat Epididymitis than other specialty physicians. Slight discomfort of epididymis is quite possible following an episode of epididymitis.
Pelvic floor exercise or Kegel's work out could improve the blood supply of the reproductive tract and fasten the healing process about which you can get information from websites.
