Suggest Remedy For Corn In The Sole Of Her Left Foot

default
Posted on Thu, 28 Sep 2017
Question: My mother has a corn in her left foot close to the balls of her feet. She is experiencing pain when she walks on hard surfaces. My mother is a diabetic and had carotid stenting performed on her a year back. The local physician asked her to apply band-aid or go for a surgery but also mentioned that this may occur even after surgery.

Can she follow the following home remedy to cure this? If not, can you suggest any solution?

"Before going to bed, soak your feet in comfortably hot water for 10 minutes to soften the hard skin. Gently rub a pumice stone back and forth across the affected area for three to five minutes and then XXXXXXX dry your feet. Dip a cotton ball in castor oil and place it on the corn. Secure it with tape and leave it on overnight. The next morning, remove the bandage and apply castor oil several times a day. Repeat the treatment for several days until the corn is fully removed. "

Brief Answer:
All necessary detailed guidelines for callus provided herewith .

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear Raghavendran ,

Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.com
I have evaluated your query thoroughly .

* Cure of callus depends upon multiple factors as depth of callus , activity level ,
control of systemic ailments as blood sugar , body weight , type of wearings .

* She can follow the mentioned home remedy , will be fine only if the depth of
callus is not much ( say more than 4-5 mm ) .
Remember deep corns are never fully recovered by any of the home remedies .

* Surgery is the best option for cure , it is a day care OPD procedure done under
local anesthesia , after control of the blood sugar & BP levels .
- There are very very less chances of recurrence in expert hands who have
excised it through depth .
- Recurrence after best surgery is in range of 4-5% in our clinical practise as
post procedure care is of utmost importance .

* Additional suggestions

- Keep blood sugar under control .
- Avoid high heels , fit foot wear , shoes .
- Keep the part clean with antiseptic liquid, dry
- Avoid walking bare foot , instead use soft slippers with thorny surface below
suggestive of accupuncture mechanics .

Hope this will help you for sure .
Welcome for any further guidance .

Regards .
