Detailed Answer:
Hello young lady,
Welcome again to the forum and thanks for posting the details so swiftly.
Let me first congratulate you for your parenthood. It is really a blessing in life to nurture the child and see him/her growing and changing things continuously.
Accordingly I can make out your concern for the colour change in your baby. It is quite natural to find such kind of anxiousness in a mother who observes each and every minor details of change in the child.
After analyzing the complete details let me first and foremost reassure you that the change of colour is quite a natural process.
To tell you more elaborately along with medical facts: Our skin is multilayered structure. It contains specific cells which are known as melanocytes. These melanocytes are the cells which regularly produces color/pigment known as melanin in the skin. To tell you simply, the darkness is due to the activity of melanocytes in the skin. These are superficially present in the upper skin known as epidermis.
This is a tendency in everyone to get higher activity of these melanocytes by various factors and in new born it is basically due to environmental factors.
At the time of birth the colour of the child is fairer and with the exposure to environmental factors- more specifically to sunlight – it becomes darker in next couple of months. It is more common during winter season when the child is exposed to direct sunlight and it causes more darkness. It is basically a protective mechanism of the skin to prevent any sun damage. So I consider it as better change and preparation of the skin to fight with environmental factors.
I again reassure you that it is quite natural process and the child regains its original colour in around 6 months to 12 months of period.
There is no active intervention required. As the baby is just 3 months, so hr requires only your milk and nothing else. Do not try to do anything or apply anything from your side to make the complexion lighter as can harm the baby’s skin rather than benefiting.
Your baby requires just your tender care and love and nothing else.
I hope this information will relax you. I will be glad to guide you any further.
Keep enjoying the motherhood and happy new year to you.
