Suggest Remedy For Delayed Periods

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Mar 2015
Question: I had my last period on 18 the Dec 2014. I was due again on 15 the January but I still haven't had my period although I had a very very small spot only once and I also had a lot of cramping like period pains. I have done a number of home pregnancy test which have all so far come up negative. I have never missed a period before in my life only when pregnant twice previously. I never had a missed period during taking the pill or even the injection years ago. I have been on medication mirtazipine 30 mg, and occasionally diazapine. Could this effect the pregnancy test results? I was also taking pueria mirifica tablets up until I missed my period - is it possible this might have caused my missed period although I haven't missed a period before due to taking this? I am feeling pregnant or is this just wish full thinking? It really is driving my mad as I would love to be pregnant again.

Brief Answer:
pregnancy not likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Considering the fact that you have done multiple home pregnancy tests and all of them were negative ,pregnancy is very unlikely.Home pregnancy tests one week after the date when your periods were supposed to come ,would be positive in case of pregnancy.
A blood test for pregnancy and an pelvic ultrasound would exclude completely every doubt for a possible pregnancy.
The drugs that you are taking don't interfere with results of pregnancy tests but can interfere with menstrual cycle.
It it known that Mirtazapine can cause changes in menstrual cycle and cause irregular periods.
Anxiety itself is a very common cause for irregular periods so these 2 factors could have caused your delayed periods.
If you don't have any other symptoms like abdominal or pelvic pain, vaginal discharge etc you don't need to worry. You can wait and see if your periods will come later.
If they don't come next month too ,you should consult an OB-GYN doctor for examination.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you have any other question or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.

Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena Murati
