Suggest Remedy For Elevated ALT Levels

Question: I'm 43, overweight, but otherwise in excellent condition. My Total chol = 235, trig = 160, HDL = 53. My ALT level came back "slightly elevated, which is very common. COuld be the result of alcohol, tylenol or some over the counter med". My ALT = 67. AST = 36, Alkaline phos = 70, bilirubin = 1.1. Is my ALT something I need to worry about? By the way, I had taken a baby aspirin that morning and had fasted for about 14 hours before blood was drawn.

Nothing to be concerned.

First of all thanks for choosing Healthcaremagic for posting your query.
I need to know how alcohol you consume ? and How much dose of Tylenol you have taken ?
NO your ALT is not of much concern but we need to evaluate the cause once I come to the dose of your Alcohol intake . If I feel your alcohol intake is not significant then I shall advise some tests to check for cause of raised ALT .
Kindly revert back with details asked.

I had taken 82 mg approx 3 hours before blood was drawn.
I drink 1-1.5 glasses of wine every night.

Brief Answer:
Repeat Test after 2 weeks.
Detailed Answer:
HI
Your Alcohol intake is quite significant to cause a raise in ALT levels but alcohol intake increases both ALT and AST levels . Infact it increases AST more than ALT such that the ratio of AST to ALT will be more than 2 .
So more than alcohol it could be your Aspirin or Tylenol intake . My advise to you is to reduce your alcohol intake. Thats enough for the time being .
Also repeat AST, ALT after 2 weeks and revert back .
