Suggest Remedy For Eye Fatigue, Lip Discolouration And Sensitive Oily Skin

Posted on Mon, 4 Jan 2016
Question: Hi,
I am soon turning 30( within 6 months) . I have a sensitive oily wheatish skin. I want to know
- Good skin routine with the creams I can use(during day and night separately). I have started observing crow's feet and slight lines in the lower eye lids
- How can I soothe my tired eyes- medicated eye cream.
- My lips are kind of discolored too. I want to know the reason for the discoloration . Is a nutritional deficiency responsible for this? Can it be make even colored? If Yes, what needs to be done
- I have acnes on chin which keep appearing every menstrual cycle.
- I want to maintain a good healthy lifestyle. What Vitamins-Mineral Tablets and Fatty acid tablets and their respective quantity I can use forever in life or if for a specific period of life. Please be detailed.
- I have also observed Dandruff in my 1 eyebrows and it keeps itching. I maintain hygiene but Dandruff keeps coming. Currently using Sebamed dandruff shampoo.
- I have also severe hairfall problem and everytime my hair becomes dull after hair wash in 2-3 days, hair fall occurs. Hair becomes oily. I have used "khadi" herbal shampoo. My hairline seems to become broader too. I stopped female pattern baldness treatment which was 2nd degree before 1 year as I was not seeing any result. Is there a way at 30 also I can grow back my hair and have healthy hair?

This time I want to be consistent in whatever I do. I take very less water during the day as I sit for long hours in office and don't feel thirsty. I have gradually started increasing my water intake too. I am very much concerned for my health, signs of aging and my hair. This period of my life where I am in between young and old brings anxiety.

Answers to specific queries related to ageing, acne and dandruff

Detailed Answer:
Hello. thansk you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and i have understood your concerns.
You may use a tretinoin based cream, once daily at night for your ageing concerns. Tretinoin is an antiageing molecule and regular use helps delay as well as reverses, fine lines and early wrinkles. Revise cream (0.02% tretinoin) is one such cream, which you can use once daily at night, on face as well as undereye skin. It should be used sparingly.
You must also protect your skin from sun during the day, as an antiageing measure. I suggest a gel based sunscreen (since you have an oily skin). Suncote gel would be an option. You must use it throughout the day and reapply every 2-3 hours, specially when outdoors (i.e 8 am, 11 am, 2 pm).
Dark lips are most racial Or due to the use of cosmetics. I suggest you to use a moisturising lip balm with an spf e.g Chaptex lip balm (contains spf 15), twice daily.
For acne, you may use a topical combination gel containing benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin e.g Clindoxyl gel, twice daily, as a spot treatment for active acne.
If you are eating healthy, there is no need for any external supplmentation. However, an antioxidant e.g Antoxid-HC, once daily, is a useful adjunct to external skin care.
For dandruff in eyebrows, I suggest you to use a moderately potent topical steroid e.g flutivate cream, for a few days. You may also use an antidandruff shampoo, in case you have dandruff and oily scalp e.g Sebamed's antidandruff shampoo, every alternate days. For dry and dull hair I would suggest you to use a conditioner, everytime you wet/ wash your hair.
Oral finasteride and topical minoxidil are approved remedies for,Female pattern baldness. Treatment is long term. Minoxidil is safe for long term use, however, finasteride is to be avoided in females who could get pregnant Or females of reproductive age group as it can have an ill effect on male fetus. However, Finasteride can be safely used in those females who have completed their families.
These are all prescription medications and should be used under suervision of a doctor, therefore I suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your vicinity for the needful.

Hi Doctor,

1. What is the duration for which the antioxidant is to be taken?
2. Can I take omega 3 tablets too? If Yes, what is the good duration for it and what can be the dosage.
3. Food I am taking is not a balanced diet esp. Lunch. What vitamins & minerals I can continue for supplementing my nutritional needs.
I frequently miss my breakfast and sometimes take Proteinex
3. For a good skin routine: What can be the moisturiser and cleanser I need to use. As after washing the face it gets dry and moisturiser which I currently use does little benefit to make the face non dry.

Yes you can take omega 3 fatty acids too. I would suggest you to take it for at least 4-6 months.
You may take AtoZ capsules once daily as a dietary supplement.
I suggest you to use a gentle cleanser e.g cetaphil cleansing lotion for face. It cleanses gently without causing dryness. You may use a non-comedogenic moisturiser e.g cetaphil moisturing cream after face wash.

Brief Answer:
Omega 3 capsules and Biotin supplement

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

You may take Amways Nutrilite Omega 3 Capsules once daily for 4-6 months.

For hair fall I would suggest you to take a Biotin Supplement e.g Tab H-Vit Forte once daily for 4-6 months. You may also use a minoxidil topical solution for scalp application. Minoxidil is a hair growth promoter. Besides this i would suggest you get your thyroid hormone levels as well as serum Ferritin levels checked. Hypothyroidism and decreased iron stores is an important cause of hair shedding in females
