Gone through the update carefully..

Possibility of migraine is getting unlikely but this couldn't be ruled out right now----because of sharp and sudden pain,on one side of head.

But Taking into consideration of your age,sharp flashing pain behind ear that prolongs for hours to days ----- I would also think of cervical spondylitis (degenerative disc disease of neck(cervical spine).The sudden flashing/shooting pain could be due to nerve impingement at nerve exit or bulging disc irritating the nerve fibers that traversing on left cervical vertebra region.

So I would advise you to initially get evaluated by a orthopedic Surgeon ---who performs certain physical maneuvers, ask for few investigations like X-ray cervical spine etc to find out the problem.If the pain is found to be related to spondylitis,drugs like gabapentin would help alleviate the sharp pain and also further management can be decided based on the stage of disease(either conservative or surgical treatment).
