Suggest Remedy For Floaters And Blurred Vision

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jul 2015
Question: A week ago I started having floaters in my left eye. They would come and go, appearing and disappearing within one minute to three or four. The floaters eased off, however, yesterday morning I woke up at 5:30 and my left eye was clouded over. I went back to sleep and when I woke up an hour or two later it was gone. Stayed away all day. This morning I woke up with less cloudiness than yesterday, but it hasn't disappeared completely. It's not interfering with my vision much, but it is distracting. I fell about 2 and a half years ago and broke the floor of the orbital in my left eye. Had plastic surgery to repair. I had the start of a catarack (sp?) in my left eye before the fall, but a doctor said it would take years to develop to the point of it causing me problems. I'm calling my primary physician today to get a referral to an opthamologist, but thought I'd get some info ahead of time. Thanks! XXXXXXX Stodola - age 70

Brief Answer:
It requires examination to rule out vitreous related problems.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your questions.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having floaters and cloudiness of vision in left eye.

These symptoms can be because of age related changes in the vitreous like vitreous degeneration, vitreous detachment...

Most of the times these vitreous related conditions are harmless and does not require any treatment. But they can be associated with retinal problems like retinal tear and if present they require treatment by laser photocoagulation.

Hence this condition requires examination by ophthalmologist by a simple office procedure called as indirect ophthalmoscopy to examine the posterior part of the eye including retina and vitreous.
Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for this test and do get back to me with the examination report.

Hope this information is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
With regards
