Question: Please NOTE that the BABY is 11 DAYS OLD.
My 11 days old baby has got high body temperature hovering around 98.5 - 99.9 F and at times 100.07 F for last 3 days. Have shown the doctor but have not received any medication. He has only asked for stool test, CBP, CRP and Sodium Tests. CBP could not be done due to impossibility of blood collection. Remaining reports along with temperature trends attached. Consulted another doctor and he suggested that it is usual for babies that old to have high temperatures during certain times at day. Right now it is 100.3. He also suggested paracetamol. I got "Pyrigesic Drops (Paracetamol Paediatric ORAL Suspension IP)". Not sure of the dosage or whether to worry about it at the first place. Please suggest if this is usual like one doc suggested ? If not - is it ok to give him the paracetamol syrup ? and in what quantity ?
Please NOTE that the BABY is 11 DAYS OLD.

Brief Answer:
Its normal in babies of this age group

Detailed Answer:
Hi...that mild fluctuations in temperature which you have mentioned are quite common in babies of this age group as they are growing and have a higher basal metabolic rate. So this higher metabolic rate will inturn manifest as slight temperature variations.

This doesn't require Paracetamol drops at all.

Most importantly - if the kid is feeding well, active, voiding urine well and cheerful you need not worry.

AN ACTIVE BABY IS A WELL BABY.

By the way the reports you have uploaded are not legible. You need to take them with a higher resolution camera and re-upload them again.

The temperature trends of today's evening is attached. Re-attached other reports. The baby is only sleeping and has taken breast milk but not in amount that he usually takes. Has passed urine and passed stool. Stool only once today. He does not seem active.

Brief Answer:
The reports are normal except slightly elevated CRP

Detailed Answer:
Hi....the reports are normal except slightly elevated CRP. This along with the fever trends you have mentioned doesn't ring any alarm bells.

The stool test report is also normal.

If you feel the baby is not at all active, then I suggest you get back to your pediatrician who has suggested that this type of temperature fluctuations are normal.

I agree with him that your baby is normal as he's taking feeds and voiding urine and stools.
