Suggest Remedy For High Fever In Child
My daughter, 9 yrs old, has high fever for the past 2 days. Her CBC is normal though. What could be the cause of this fever? Should I do the tests for Typhoid and Malaria? Please advice.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Viral fevers are quite common in children. In case of viral infections complete blood count (CBC) is most often normal. So, it is likely that your child is suffering from a viral infection.
You can get the test for malaria done if the child has chills and rigors along with the fever or if there is high prevalence of malaria in your area.
No need to test for typhoid at the moment. Even if it had been typhoid, all tests would come negative for a fever of 2 days. A antibody test (costly) for typhoid IgM test becomes positive generally after 5 days of fever if the child has typhoid. For Widal test, it takes more than 7-10 days. You should get her tested for typhoid if she has fever for more than 7-10 days.
Hope that helps.
