Question: I often get an icy hot sensation in the back upper part of my throat that causes me much discomfort.

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely from acid reflux. This can irritate throat.

Taking proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole and motility enhancers like domperidone will be helpful. Taking this for 4weeks and avoiding irritating foods will help. Avoid fatty, greasy foods and carbonated drinks.

Esomeprazole is available as over the counter in brands like Nexium. This should be taken 1hour before breakfast daily.
