Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to acid reflux

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Increased hiccups can be a sign of underlying gastroesophageal reflux. The things I would suggest in this regard are:
* Taking small but frequent intervals. Long gaps between meals need to be avoided.
* Regular exercise and morning walk is essential. It will help in maintaining proper bowel movements.
* Adequate intake of green leafy vegetables and plenty of fibres in diet. These are essential for proper intestinal movements, the lack of which will promote reflux.
* Prilosec (omeprazole) taken once daily before breakfast.
* Antiemetics or prokinetic medicines if needed.
* Stress is an important triggering factor and needs to be avoided.

Hope that helps.

Brief Answer:
Prokinetics stimulate the movement of the gut

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for not being able to respond earlier. Prokinetics or gastrokinetics are medicines that stimulate the stomach to more quickly empty its contents into the small intestine. Prokinetics like baclofen and metoclopramide are available OTC in low doses. But rather than wondering about prokinetics, try the other means first. I would prefer prescription prokinetics like itopride if one is needed but you would need your doctor to write it for you.
