Suggest Remedy For Itchy Ears And Sore Throat

Question: Hi. I have had a raw sore throat for over two weeks, it is itchy and both of my ears are itchy inside also, my nose is itchy, it is not running because when I blow nothing comes out but soon after it starts to drip, but this is intermittent. I am noticing that the symptoms get better and then worse again and the only theme is cold air through the air conditioning, as I am inside and then outside in the desert where I live it is humid and close to 100 degrees. I went to urgent care and she told me i have post nasal drip but i think she is wrong because that does not explain the aggravation when exposed to cold.
Brief Answer:
need testing for strep
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
With a sore throat for over two weeks you need to be tested for strep throat. If it is not strep it could be a viral infection or allergies. The Zyrtec and Nasonex may help relieve symptoms but you really need to make sure you do not have strep. If it is viral it will resolve on its own in a few weeks.
If it is allergies the medications you were given for the post nasal drip should help.
It would also be helpful to use nasal saline several times a day. What ever is causing the irritation in your airways, the cold air is just exacerbating it by drying things out.
