Complementary feed should be based on baby's demand
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for follow up
Complementary feed is to complement the breast feed with some Semisolid food items.
Initially continue to breast feed as usual and then gradually increase the quantity of Semisolid food and give breast feed only during night time.
The quantity of complimentary food should be based on baby's demand.Give the amount which baby accepts without any problem.
It should be of Semisolid consistency(completely mashed).
Start with one cereal or pulses and add a new one once a week.So that you can easily detect if there is intolerance to any item. You can give khichdi, dal ka pani,
Give wheat, oats and barley in the last as they have high tendency to cause allergy.
You can give mashed apple, banana, cheeku, papaya and even pomegranate juice.Dont give pomogranate as a whole to avoid the risk of chocking .As baby starts accepting the feeds give three major meals mixed with two to three snacks in between.
Complementary feeding is a gradual process and you can add little bit ghee(1/3 of a teaspoon) to the baby's food to make it calorie dense.
I hope this helps.
