Suggest Remedy For Menorrhagia
the brown or spotting again totaling about three weeks. then she has about one week off. this has gone on for two years or so. she was put on birth control pills (lo loestrin). the pills were started as she was starting to slow down. her bleeding got worse by the day until day eleven she was flooding a overnight pad. at this point we stopped the pills. the bleeding went down to nothing in about twelve days but her blood levels are low and the pediatrician wants to her a shot of Depo- provera. I believe the pills started
the extreme bleeding. also I took her to a obgyn that wanted to have her take four pills four times a day for four days, three pills three times a day for three times a day and so on. this sounded strange because the pills caused the excessive bleeding. so I took her to the pediatrician. I read Depo- provera can like the pill cause bleeding. we cant mess around with her she doesn't have enough blood to have another problem yet starting her regular pattern may loose too much blood too. we need help and advice.
Hormonal treatment is the only way.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The heavy and excessive bleeding that your daughter is having can be due to uterine fibriods or hormonal imbalance. If fibroids have been ruled out then hormonal imbalance needs the hormonal pills or depo provera injection to decrease the bleeding. The increase in bleeding on taking oral pills can happen due to insufficient doses but it ultimately helps in controlling the excessive bleeding and decreases endometrial hypertrophy.
Using the pills or injection is the standard treatment for such heavy bleeding. Taking combined pills is a more effective way than taking depo provera injections. It is best to go with the gynecologist's advice and start with the treatment.
