Posted on Sat, 3 Sep 2016
Question: Hello. When I am sitting for an extended amount of time ( usually 1 hour or more) and have my leg crossed, my entire bottom leg and foot go numb and I cannot even feel it nor walk on it for a few minutes. One time when I was in the salon I tried to stand and I fell down because I could not feel my foot. Is this normal? Any need for concern? Thank you!

Answer : If you are sitting in the same position (crossed legs) for more than an hour, the blood supply to the lower limb will be reduced

This reduced Blood Supply would mean less oxygen is getting delivered to the tissues

Hence Nerves get Less Oxygen. And Because of this, their function in transmitting impulses get impaired and because of this you develop numbness and cannot even feel or walk on it for few minutes

Once you change the position, the blood circulation is renewed and nerves get oxygen and they function properly

This is Normal when you are sitting crossed leg for more than an hour

The solution is to change positions of your legs frequency

Hope you found the answer helpful.
