Suggest Remedy For Numbness In Pelvic Area After Using Tea Tree Oil
Question: About two weeks ago I got a really bad bikini wax which resulted in several ingrown hairs. after much poking and prodding I was able to remove most of the ingrown hairs (they were quite painful). My aesthician recommended I treat the hairs with alcohol so they don't get infected. I used alcohol for about 2 weeks but found that to be very drying so i switched to tea tree oil which I've used in the past for other things. After a few days of use with the tea tree oil (about 2x a day for 4 days) I've noticed numbness in some spots of my bikini line and pelvic region where I had ingrowns and treated with the oil. Is the numbness likely due to picking at the ingrowns resulting in nerve damage, or is it the tea tree oil ( i hear it has numbing properties). I am also experiencing a light throbbing pain in the area that has gone numb.
Brief Answer:
Numbness related to tea tree oil.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
I understand your concern.
The numbness in the mentioned zones is caused predominantly by tea tree oil application.
Nerve damage by picking is less likely.
Ingrown hair will go way on its own.
The throbbing pain will subside on its own.
Topical application of steroidal creams like Aclovate, will help to reduce the pain and irritation.

Thank you for your quick response. The numbness is actually starting to subside but the pain is getting worse. It's this throbbing pain right in my groin (only on the right side) and on the very front of my thigh (a few inches from the groin/bikini area). could that be a pulled muscle (i do work out) or related to the ingrowns?
Brief Answer:
Pain related to ingrown hair
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
I understand your concern.
The pain is due to ingrown hair and not due to muscle pull.
I advise you to go for topical application of Voveran Gel thrice daily. This can reduce the pain and inflammation.
