Suggest Remedy For Pain During Intercourse In An Elderly Person

default
Posted on Wed, 13 Jan 2016
Question: I am kind of embarrassed to ask about this, but the sex I have with my husband is extremely painful and sometimes brings me to tears. So far no GYN has been able to find anything, not even from a biopsy. My husband is extremely upset about this. I am 70 and he is a bit younger and does not understand some things. It was recommended I try this drug called Topicaine 5% topical get in that area, but I am afraid because I also have Breast Cancer and am on a Chemo called Faslodex. I don't know what to do. He does not want me to use this Topicaine because it might affect him too.

Brief Answer:
Topicaine is not hormone based.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Topicaine is a local anaesthetic and is not a hormonal gel. It does not contain estrogen. It is a numbing cream. It will decrease the pain sensation without affecting your partner.
This is the best option for you. The pain that you have is due to dryness in the area. You can also use XXXXXXX butter for lubrication. It will decrease the friction and pain.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Would it be safe to use this Topicaine 2 or 3 times a week or not. I understand too much can get into my bloodstream and possibly cause me harm. Or better to start with the XXXXXXX Butter?

Brief Answer:
You can use it thrice a week.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
You can safely use Topicaine thrice a week. It is best to take a small amount of it and rub it on the painful areas gently. You can use XXXXXXX butter in addition to it as a lubricant.
Hope my answer is helpful.
