Suggest Remedy For Pain In Pelvic Area

Question: Hello, i will describe what has been happening to my girlfriend.
She is 19 y.o and in the past week or so, she's been having a very uncomfortable and painful feeling in the pelvic area (in the middle, probably in the uterus? i dont know) along with some bleeding that seems like a lighter period. She describes it as a uncomfortable pressure, twinges and sharp pain in the area.
In the past she had a ovarian cyst and removed it (she describes the pain as a very similar pain when she had the cyst), and not so long ago she went to the doctor again to check it with ultrasound and there were NO more cysts.
Some extra info: She is using birth control pill and uses it perfectly for more than a year (this made me think the pain is what doctors call mid-cycle pain/bleeding which is kinda common in low hormone pills, but not for that long and the way shes experiencing does not look "normal") ; There's still about a week to end her cycle; She didnt get sick or had diharrea or vomit; We had unprotected sex and i ejaculated insider her for the first time in months, about a week ago (This lead me to search more and more and i found something called ovulation pain, which made me scared because how likely is that? and again, her pain is harsh and is happening for a week, so its even less likely that she is ovulating, am i right?)
What's your opinion? Yes she is going to the doctor tomorrow, but i would like to know what could be happening... Is this normal? Is she having another cyst? Theres nothing to do with pregnancy and all, right? (because i was vey scared at first), enlighten me...

Brief Answer:
Get another ultrasound
Detailed Answer:
hello, from what you have described about the pain, in my opinion it's unlikely to be mid cycle bleeding or ovulation pain . first you should get an ultrasound done so that other cysts and possible torsion of cyst can be ruled out. another likely hood is breakthrough bleeding which is also possible while taking birth control pills. but the pain is usually not severe. she definitely needs and examination first so that the pain can be localised. it's not likely to be pregnancy due to the short history .

Yes, she will go to the doctor asap. So, regarding what you said about the breakthrough bleeding, i agree with that because the symptoms are similar, but she is having an intense pain and bleeding for days now, its strange isnt it? isnt breakthrough bleeding suposed to be something lighter and something that goes away in a couple days?
Regarding the cyst and all, does it affect the efficacy of the pill? does anything i described to you affect its efficacy? And how likely is she pregnant? probably not at all right? i dont know
I will keep you informed.

Brief Answer:
Pregnancy unlikely
Detailed Answer:
well, pregnancy isn't likely as efficacy of the pill should be same if it wasn't missed.
Breakthrough can last several days depending on hormone levels. So I would not rule out breakthrough bleed yet. However it's important to rule out cyst first.
At this point of time, I feel this pain will respond to medications like drotavarine or mefenamic acid. I am not sure the drugs are available over the counter.
