Suggest Remedy For Pain In Thigh And Knee After An Accident

Question: My mom fell four days ago and cant bear weight on her leg. Her pain is located in thigh and knee and when moving in hip area. A bruise appeared today on thigh. Can we use heat compresses...thats the only thing that makes her pain stop. The sudden bruising on her leg has us very concerned.
Brief Answer:
Leg pain after fall
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
Is your mother's age 53 or 75 as per a previous question? Did she get x-rays? if there is no fractures then she can use heat compresses on the leg. The bruise is to be expected and not anything to be concerned about. The bruise will take 1-2 weeks to resolve and may actually move down her leg over the next week. This is because blood is slowing being pulled down her leg by gravity. Again this is normal and to be expected.
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions

She is 75...but since the fall each day she seems to be getting better and gaining more movement in her leg..not much but she is progressing. If it was a break would she be getting better each day or would she be getting worse?
Brief Answer:
a break would not be getting better
Detailed Answer:
I agree she does not have a break since she is getting better each day. I would stay with the warm compresses and allow her to walk as much as possible.
