Suggest Remedy For Pain In Throat While Swallowing

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: My throat hurts when swallowing but throat not painful. Swallowing also hurts my throat, a tender spot at the bottom of the neck near collar bone, and the centre of my chest. Belching also aggravates these areas. These symptoms came on quickly last Monday afternoon. I have a small hiatus hernia, diagnosed several years ago. I am a 70 year old female in otherwise good health, not overweight, non smoker, non drinker, non drug user. Not on any medications. P.S. Centre of chest hurts (not painful) continually since Monday. Orginally thought that was from chest exercises.

Brief Answer:
Your problems seems related to gastrointestinal problems...

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

What you are experiencing seems related to gastrointestinal problems, especially hiatus hernia and GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease).

If you were my patient I would suggest to do the following examinations:
- Blood work
- Chest x ray
- Abdominal ultrasound
- ECG
This will help to exclude any life threatening situation and to find out the exact etiology.

Meanwhile i would recommend to use the following OTC to relief from pain:
- Antacids OTC (malox)
- Painkiller OTC (tylenol)
If this OTC doesn't relief you from pain than you should go to ER.

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!
