Suggest Remedy For Painful Boil On Breast Of Lactating Mother
Question: I am 27 years old and I breast feed my 9 months old baby. I have developed a bleb/boil kind of a thing on my left nipple and has been there for more than a week. I used to experience pain while I nurse but was bearable. For the past two days the pain has become unbearable and I tried to prick the bleb/boil with a pin and could not suceed. The bleb/boil now looks brownish/black in colour. Kindly suggest a remedy. The thought of nursing my little one from the left breast is scary. Kindly let me know if I should attach an image of the bleb/boil.

I have attached images Doctor. Kindly suggest a remedy as I am undergoing unbearable pain. Thanks
Also Doctor, the bleb/blister is on the left nipple and seems to be like a blood blister. Can it still be a hair follicle root? Kindly let me know if the images are clear enough or if you need further images for diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the photographs.
It is looking like s bacterial infection.
I treat such cases with topical and oral antibiotics.
Amoxicillin is safe in such cases it can be taken during breast feeding.
You csn also apply ointment mupirocine.
I suggest you to avoid feeding from affected breast for two days.
It will also be helpful if you take a gynaecologist 's view.
It is always better to get yourself physically examined.
Let me know if you have any other doubt.
Thank you.
