default
Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: Hi there! I have incredibly painful diarrhea and have had a significant amount of blood initially with the diarrhea . It started 2 days ago with intense cramping in the large intestine and now very watery diarrhea today. I am 59, had a colonoscopy at age 52 without any abnormalities. This is unusual for me.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to Health Care Magic, Thanks for writing to us,

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.

How you are describing your symptoms , the way you have abdominal cramps and bleeding with stools , in my opinion you are having infectious dysentary , if stools have some slimy mucous type layer on them and they aren't completely water but semi solid then this might well be Amoebic

Or else It can be bacterial, either ways you need immediate check-up by a doctor He might want to run some tests on you and start some antibiotics to coup up with the infection.
I would suggest you a few things.

1) Consult a doctor as soon as possible.
2) Drink ample water.
3) Eat simple easily digestible food with ample fibre.
4) You can also use fibre supplement.
5) In my clinic I would recommend a similar patient to take Metronidazole 500 mg thrice a day, it's a wonder drug against amoeba.
6) For bacteria I would have recommended Cipro 500 mg twice a day to my patient.
7) I would suggest you to discuss all this with your doctor.

Don't panic this is a common problem but yes it needs to be followed up carefully and should not be ignored.
I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it. Wish you the best of health.

Regards,

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad.
