Suggest Remedy For Peeling Of Skin On Ankle

Question: I have an area on my ankle that looks like the skin is peeling, as if I had sun burned it, but have not been in the sun for quite some time now and besides I always wear socks. It is also quite tender. It woke me up.

I can understand your concern for the skin problem on your ankle. You said that peeling of skin occurs on ankle. And the area is painful on touch.

I would like to have answers of few questions...

- duration?
- complaint like itching,pain,burning?
- exact areas affected?
- both ankles affected?
- describe the lesion..scaly,crusted,popular,vesicular,oozing,pus discharge?
- past history of similar or other skin disease?
- any systemic disease..DM,renal disease, heart disease,BP or other?
- history of any medicine in present or past?
- family history of any disease?
- are you doing some work,job?

Kindly answer above questions.. And do not forget to post the photos of affected parts.

i just noticed it early this morning, the pain woke me. Its just the left ankle, there is no discharge, it is red and scaley. As far as history, this last summer i had a large, about 3 inch in diameter, bruise and didnt know what i had done to cause it.. It was hot and painfull ocassionally, but not always. I do havv high BP. And Atrial Fib of which i take meds for. I am retired and disabled with chronic pain

Thanks for answers. But,you have not posted photograph of the affected part. Kindly post.

After reading history, I deeply feel that the lesion you saw in the morning may be insect toxic dermatitis. The lesion is red and tender,and occurred at one place. You do not worry,as it may resolve in few days to few weeks with proper treatment.

Kindly consult dermatologist for the firm diagnosis. However, I would suggest as below...

- steroid in tapering dose
- antihistaminics
- anti inflammatory and analgesics
- antibiotics
- local antibiotic cream
- have bed rest, do not walk.
- regular follow up
