Brief Answer:
Mucolytics, expectorants, antihistamines initially

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

The chest congestion can be related to a lower respiratory tract infection, an allergy or inflammatory condition of the airways like asthma. The chest needs to be examined and auscultated. Mucolytics , anti histamines, bronchodilators and expectorant medications can be advised if there is mild congestion. At home you can try breathing warm steam and put a drop or two of vicks in it to help open up the airways. If the congestion persists, worsens, is associated with fever or shortness of breath then a chest x ray and complete blood count, ESR, and sputum for AFB can be done in consult with your doctor to determine the cause.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Need more info

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

Both medications i.e brozedex and duolin are bronchodilators and are used in asthma. You should continue the medication for now.

Kindly answer the following to have a better idea

Were any medication other than above two , prescribed.
Do you have fever, generalized body aches or night sweats associated with this discomfort.
Were a chest x ray or pulmonary function tests or blood counts , advised.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Both medications i.e brozedex and duolin can cause drowsiness and make one sleepy. There should not be any difficulty in breathing if you are using the bronchodilators. If despite these meds you are short of breath then an EKG should be done to rule out cardiac cause. As for the investigations, based on the findings in chest x ray, documented fever, raised ESR and TLC, I would have prescribed a course of antibiotics, if I were your treating doctor. As LRTI can cause an exacerbation of the asthma. You can consult a pulmonologist if the problem persists and request for pulmonary function tests to be done.

Let me know if you need any clarification.
