Suggest Remedy For Persistent Cough Despite Medication

Question: I am under Dr orders taking Hydrocodone-Chlorphen er susp dosage 1 tsp at night. it is now several years and the persistant cugh is not any better, no copd, no lung infection showing like to find some relief...any ideas?
