Suggest Remedy For Persistent Cut In Penile Skin
Question: Hello Dr. Kakkar. I am following up on my issue that you have been helping me with (please refer to our previous conversations).
As per your instructions, I visited a doctor and he gave me a prescription cream with a steroid to settle down the inflammation. I've been using it for about 3 weeks now, and I think the inflammation has subsided. I also have not masturbated for 2 weeks. However, there is still a small cut on the skin, like a tiny dot, that has not gone away. I went back to the doctor and was told that there is nothing more that can be done for it, that I shouldn't use more antibiotics, and that I might have to live with this 'red dot,' however I am not satisfied with that answer.
I want this cut to be totally healed. What is your opinion on how it looks now? Is it unusual for a cut of this nature to last so long? Do you have any further advice? Will this heal within the next week or so if I continue to use the cream and don't aggravate the area any further? Thank you for your time.

Brief Answer:
I suggest you to use tretinoin 0.025%
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing back to me
I have reviewed the Images. The spot seems much better than before and I can see only a small dark dot. It actually seems that it was a comedone, an opn comedone. Now since inflammation has subsided it has become more clearly visible. Glans is an unsual site for a comedone.
I would suggest you to use a topical tretinoin 0.025% cream, once daily at night. Tretinoin is comedomytic and would probably resolve it in next 3-4 weeks. Mind you, tretinoin is a bit of an irritant so use it sparingly and may be use it every alternate night.
Regards

I see. Is that what was that what was causing the inflammation? What caused it to appear on this unusual place
I am a bit wary of putting something so strong on my glans, can it do any damage?
In the meantime, can i masturbate and have sex??

Brief Answer:
Use tretinoin for a few weeks; every alternate night
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Yes, it is an unsual location but it has been known to occur. May be friction and trauma is the underlying cause.
Tretinoin, would not cause any damage. You may use it every altenate night Or once in 3 days for a few weeks. Gradually build the frequency of application for better toleration. Really, just a mild irritant it is.
I don't think there is any harm in masturabtion Or having sex.

I see. I will try that. Should i continue to use the steroid cream in the meantime?
Also, I should add that I masturbated last night, and this morning the spot looked somewhat inflamed again and the small dot is much more difficult to see. Does that fall in line with how a comedone responds?

Brief Answer:
Try tretinoin cream
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
No, you should discontinue steroid cream. It was only for a 2 weeks. The act of masturbation can cause redness due to friction. So nothing to worry. You may try a tretinoin cream, as suggested. Hopefully that would get rid of the comedone in 3-4 weeks.
