Yes Dandruff cause a lot of itching and hair fall.
Let me explain that dandruff is mainly because over shedding of dead cells in the scalp. Few people will have it. So they shed dead cells too early and too large amount than others. So these dead cells have to be washed away frequently otherwise they attract dust and cause more problem. They also clog the pores of the sebum secreting glands and cause infections, folliculitis.
1) So the best and important method is to wash the hair with shampoo every alternate day to wash off the dead cells.
2) There is a way to reduce the cell turnover by using certain medications like Coal tar.
3) It has to be accompanied by anti fungal because they are biggest gainers of the dandruff so ketoconazole should be used
4) Since these will dry the hair and spoil the hair you should use a suitable conditioner to keep the hair shiny and smooth, so every wash should be followed by a conditioner.
5) Since the problem is inherent the process has to be at least 6 months to one year. There is no respite if you use less than this period.
I suggest you to use Cotar-K shampoo, apply it for 30 minutes and wash it off. Followed by any good conditioner like DOVE, LOREAL etc.
Along with it I suggest to use TAB BIOTIN OD 10mg once a day for three months.
