Thanks,
Extremely Frustrated
Please continue lotrimin for longer duration and consult doctor if required
Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. If you found 95 percent relief with lotrimin which contains the medicine clotrimazole which is an antifungal then it is most likely that you have a fungal infection.
2. A fungal infection is a slow infection and takes time to get treated. Applying antifungal for 15 days if not sufficient to clear the infections. The probable cause for worsening can be the damp weather and if you share towels, clothes or wear wet clothes.
3. It is recommended that you please apply lotrimin for at least a month to get treated. Occasionally some patients might not get treated completely with ointment application and if the symptoms persist even after a month of lotrimin use then you should consult a dermatologist for confirmation and for prescription of oral antifungal medicine.
4. Please avoid scratching the itching areas and apply the ointment at least 2 times daily after wiping dry following your bath. Wear cotton innerwear which is dry to stop sweating in the genital region. Avoid sharing towels and clothes with others. Trim your pubic hair to keep the genital area dry.
5. You can apply antifungal powder in your genital region if there are extensive area of involvement for early healing.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
