Hi Doc,
I am on 2 50mg of tramadol 4 times a day, 2 10/500mg of co-dydramol 4 times a day, 1 250mg clarithromycin 2 times a day and difflam mouth rinse 3 times a day. I am having problems sleeping. Is it safe to take any sleeping tablets? Can i take 0.5mg of xanex? If not can i take 50mg of phenergan?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
It is not safe to add these medications.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for writing back.
1. Avoid taking alprazolam or phenergan with tramadol and co-dyramol.
2. You are on the maximum recommended dose of tramadol. Co-dydramol is also a pain-killer. Avoid one of these.
3. Most of these medications will cause further dryness of the throat and increased discomfort.
4. Request your doctor to review the medication.
5. The throat discomfort may also be due to the intubation for anaesthesia. This discomfort will disappear soon.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
