Suggest Remedy For Post Concussion Syndrome

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Jan 2015
Question: Post concussion syndrome 30 months.. Can't function with memory, spelling, math long and short term but no one that doesn't know me would have no knowledge or see it. I'm a RN that never called in sick worked 16/7 for the past 10 plus years. Slip and fell on wet leaves at King Kullen 2008, Major concussion lost job and took sometime to get bak to normal. 7/12 tripped and fell into 2x2 huge hole in street of gated community, 11/12 while stopped in my car had a truck slam into me. This ended my life from this point on.
Extreme headaches in the back of my head, now burning base of head, neck, down left side of my neck, ear, and complete upper chest.. Burns so bad you would think had shingles but don't. eye issue, can't walk straight, use my brain, reading, talking and I'm dry heaving or vomiting. Can't think clearly at all.
Would love to go back to living a normal life, working and doing what I love. But can't think clearly to be able to function.
Told there is no testing to prove head injuries. Told to get Vestibular therapy, speech therapy, can't afford $25.00 co payments. Geico send you to IME's that just say there is nothing wrong by Orthopedic and Chriopractor so they cancel all my care.
Concussions don't last 30 months, how do I prove what is wrong. Get the help to resolve. Other than neuropsych to proves no one can seem to help me. I live on Long Island and don't know who or how to get the help.. I'm told the only proof is after death...
Any ideas....Who do I get help from or testing to prove major head injuries.
Neuropsych proves the problems clearly.

Can email any MRI's or Cat scans if you need them.. Would love to be hospitalized and test run to find out what is wrong.. I need answers but no one seems to know anything about the brain injuries or what to do. Can find out after I die.

Long Island doctor only want to deal with body parts and it can take 4 months to get a return appt.

Detailed Answer:
Hi YYYY@YYYY ,
Thanks for being here on Healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar, a neurologist, here to answer your query.

I can understand what mental trauma you have been going through all this time.I shall answer your query with a genuine intent to help you.

It is apparent that you had been through multiple head injuries and concussions in past few years-in 2008,then twice in 2012 and then in 2014.
Presently your symptoms of severe headache, burning head, neck and chest along with the symptoms of inability to walk, talk, think or read properly actually don't localise your illness to some particular part of neurological axis. Please answer a few questions-
1)Are you having any limb weakness or facial asymmetry?
2)Are you having any micturition difficulty?
3)Are you having normal eye movements?
4)Any history of seizures?

Along with, please upload MRI and Computerised tomographic scan(CT scan) reports and scanned images here. Also,I suggest that you ask someone to make a video showing how you walk?stand up from the squatting position?and, eye movements from one gaze to another?--and please upload this video on google drive and share the link here.I shall be in a better position to answer your query then.

Please do the needful and follow-up.I shall be glad to answer your query well.
Wish you good health.

I have facial twitching 2-3 times. I have no issues walking talking nor limb weakness, or facial asymmetry. Don't know what micturition difficulty is? No problems with eye movement issues. I can't walk a straight line toe to toe I wobble. I do have eye issues, eye hurt and I feel I am straining but my vision they say is fine. All the normal issues of concussions, headaches extreme pain in the back of my head, light noise sensitivty, nausea vomiting if I use my brain, can't concentrate, affected long and short term memory. Sometimes I do better than other times, get lost easy, tired always, angry, frustrated all the time, irritable, All I say is I just can't function but no one else can see it. I feel like everyone thinks I'm make more out of it than it is. I'm not. I can't read and clearly understand things that would have been easy for me in the past. can't pronounce works or explain what they mean in yet I know I know the words.
My MRI's Cat Scans and neuropsych I don't want to just email for safety issues.
My partner says just do a few things at a time and I try to explain what used to take me 10 minutes to do and simple, now can take me 10 hours or not at all, to over whelming for me. I can't spell or even at time do simple math. I'm told executive thinking is hard for me, doing what a 1st grade does in one minute becomes to hard. I'm told that if I hear 10 words I may only pick up three of them. Just writing this and asking my partner to spell things for me is causing a extreme head ache and pressure. I talk to someone for any time that requires thinking and by the time I'm finished I'm dry heaving and eye and head pain. BUT I sound and speak clearly so only I seem to see the issues other than neuropsychs. I can fax them to you it might be safer ?

I have spinal issues, and now being told possible MS from the MRI. Before all these concussions I never had anything. Worked 16/7 as a RN without pain, mental issues functioned very well with what I would say no issues. Supervisor, Nurse Manager, Critical Care and can't even remember most of the things that just were without thought just second nature to me... Can't write a letter it's just completely unclear and all over the place. Creating major issues just in my personal relationships. I get told I was told something and I have no memory of it as though no one said a word about something. Parent and adult kids I feel just think I'ts not what I feel it is. Memory is just not there, I want to scream...
Doctors want a 5 minute appointment and if they see nothing it's not there.. I can't get alone with them. See them today and next appt 3 months later with zero answers.. 30 months can not be just Post Concussion syndrome......

It's partner, not parent and it's along with them. I would be better off with two broken legs and arms and someone would understand how hard it is.
Doctor's offices treat me like garbage, I expect to much what a appointment and not waiting 3-4 months. Or a pharmacy to call for a prescription approval and I'm told they call 7-8 and no return calls. 11/21/14 a doctor ordered a 14 day supply of Lyricia. But needed a prior approval, no one called me. 12/17/14 I went to address it with the pharmacy I'm a drug abuser. I use to many doctor and to many prescriptions.
Three emergency rooms. 9/16/2014 burning pain in head, chest, neck and hit and run while stopped at light. Doctor told me I didn't have Post Concussion syndrome it doesn't last that long it's CTE. Get off Long Island and go to XXXXXXX Pres Hospital and find a quality doctor to dx the situation. Ordered for the 1st time Valium 5 mg, TID (15), Perocet 5mg Q 4 hours (20)
10/30/2014 at SB Univ hospital unbearable pain, burning pain Valium 5 mg,TID (15) Percocet 5mg Q4 hour, (20)
11/13/14 SB UNIV Hosp. Super severe pain running down my left arm into my thumb, index and middle fingers spasms 20 in a hour, did MRI and slammed my head into stretcher, pain a 20 of a 1-10 level. Ordered Valium 5mg, tid, (15), Percocet 5mg, Q4 hour (20).
11/19/2014 Neurologist in XXXXXXX Pres Hospital Private Neurologist ordered Valium 5mg, TID (90)and Percocet 10mg, q 12 hours (60).
12/17/2014 the pharmacy refused to file the Lyricia prescription I'm a drug abuser......
I had out of that prescription 82 of the Valium and 44 of the Percocet.
I went to two pharmacys to have m=them count the medications because I don't even like to take the medications for fear of getting addicted.

My psychologist says I shouldn't get upset so what that they say I'm a drug abuser. Refuse to fill my lyricia prescription just go some where else.
I'm boring I don't use drugs, alcohol, smoke and all I like to do is my nursing and I can no longer enjoy my life... I might be depressed? I went on WellbutrinLX and Lamital, because Wellbutrin can cause seizures so Lamital combat that. I do't want to be on a antidepressor that causes you to gain 50 lbs. Concussion doctor didn't care about that side affect. Well I do..
Do you see me as a drug abuser.. I guess tylenol and Motrin, and Benedryl I might use most of the time... 30 months....

Brief Answer:
It is likely 'Depression.I don't see it as Drug abuse. Please upload MRI/CT.

Detailed Answer:
Hi YYYY@YYYY ,
Thanks for being in follow-up.
I feel sorry for what all you have been through, these years.

Sincerely speaking,I read all through your history and what appears to me is that you are suffering from 'Major depression' and 'Chronic Tension Headache'.You are not a 'Drug abuser'.

Still, its just based on history. As I earlier said,I insist you to please upload MRI and CT scanned images and reports here(its safe as its professional online consultation and information is not shared with anyone),so that I can come to some conclusion.

Medicines like Tricyclic antidepressants(amitriptyline) or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(sertraline) have been effective in more than 75% of patients in my clinical practice. It can be tried WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN'S SUPERVISION. But,first of all, please upload the MRI/CT,so that I can be conclusive about anything.

Believe in God and yourself. Please do some meditation,Yoga and mental relaxation exercises. It will difinitely help. Please follow-up with the needful.

You only partly read it. I explained a abusive situation.(9)Valiums in a month and (16) Percocets in a month for extreme pain is not drug abuse or depression..People don't do there jobs so they blame others and trash and slander others. . I'm not dealing with Chronic Tension Headaches. I have depression because of concussions and not being able to find answers after 30 months of being very sick, not being able to think or function with my normal abilities. I want to go back to my love and work as a RN and function as normal. Think about losing your medical abilities.
I will have to get all the MRI's reports and (2)neuropsychs scanned so they can be sent will do tomorrow. Don't know whether your in the US but today all we have is PA's or NP's . MD's are far and few and want to do as little as possible today.
Medicine has changed here we are body parts not holistic people. I need to know what is wrong with my head because I can't function to work as I love to...Thanks for the help

Brief Answer:
It is not Drug abuse.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

Yes,I said that it is not 'Drug abuse'.It is not because 'Drug abuse is habitual use of a drug by a person in amounts which are causing harm to his or her body and despite of knowing these harmful effects,he or she continues to take it'.Drug abuse is associated with drug 'dependence' where person feels unable to do without the drug.
In your case, first of all it was prescription based.Secondly,it was done with an intent of reducing pain and not due to any dependence. So,it is not 'Drug abuse'.

Yourself having chronic severe pain at the back of the head, burning sensation at the base of head ,neck and radiating even downwards is a common pattern of headache associated with 'Chronic tension headache'.Moreover,'Chronic Tension headache' is closely associated with 'Depression'.

I said its just a possibility.I 'll wait for tomorrow when you upload MRI images, neuropsychiatric documents and will be able to answer your query conclusively better.
Hope it helps.Wish you good health.Waiting for your response.
