Brief Answer:
Sweating

Detailed Answer:
There can be several potential causes of these sweating episodes

1 She must check her blood glucose level with a glucose monitor at the time she experiences the profuse sweating.
Low blood glucoses can cause sweating. Any value below 70 requires treatment with a glucose source like milk/soda/juice/crackers

2 Her thyroid needs to be checked too. A simple non-fasting blood test like TSH will be very helpful

3 Menopausal hot flashes can occur at any age

4 Diabetes related nerve damage can result in sweating abnormally. Controlling diabetes better is only one way to address this. often such nerve damage is irreversible. Neurologists can help with treatments for such a problem

5 There is a rare condition called pheochromocytoma which causes spells of sweating/headache/ heart racing/ shortness of breath. A blood test to screen for this is useful. It is called Plasma free metanephrines
