Question: I have rectal itching and soreness. I also have loose bowel movements. It comes on when I exercise, walk for any length of time or lift anything heavy. It has been bothering me for about 7 months. I had a clean colonoscopy about a year ago and my doctor has said I don't have hemorrhoids.

Brief Answer:
Do you get sweaty after exercising?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

Looking at your information, tis discomfort is most likely caused by irritation from sweat. You would need to take extra measures to make sure that any secretions are quickly dried off like putting on absorbent under wears. With a clean colonoscopy and absence of hemorrhoids, there is no better explanation to this.

I understand it is difficult to pause at al times and make sure all secretions are cleaned off. Absorbent under wears would help. Try this out and report progress to me. Cleansing as soon as possible after sweaty exercises would also be of help.

II hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Hello Dr. Ditah, the irritation/itchiness continues for days afterwards so I don't think it is due to sweat. Is it possible that I'm causing irritation from wiping due to the leaky bowel and loose stool or could I have a food allergy that is causing the loose stool problem?

Brief Answer:
PLease, has this been addressed?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for teh details.

Feces that stays on the skins causes erosion. This would be responsible for pains even after the cleansing. The best measure is to clense as soon as this happens.

However, I recoommend that you see a doctor for proper investigation and management. In the meantime, applying vaseline to the anal area and cleansing regularly would be of great help.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
