Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
I have read your query. I understand your concern.
Melacare is a combination cream containing Hydroquinone, tretinoin and steroid.
It can be safely used for 4-6 weeks. Later it should be gradually tapered and stopped. You have already used the preparation for 8 weeks so you should taper It now and finally stop using. Yes you my safely switch over to kojic acid, glycolic acid, vitamin C preparations . These are quite safe and can be used for long time continously. These are meant for maintenance therapy.
You have been following the correct protocol. Usage of sunscreen is the most important part of treatment of freckles. You must be already aware of the method of application of sunscreen I would like to tell you once that a broad spectrum sunscreen should be used regularly. It should be applied over all exposed areas 15 minutes before you leave the house and should be repeated every 2-3 hourly till 3-4 pm.
SPF 40 is good enough to protect your skin from.harmful UV radiations.
You should visit your doctor so that he can examine you and give you prescription.
I hope it helps.
Take care.
